OceanDiver has been built to better support understanding of complex oceanographic data by providing collaborative immersive visualization. Parameters available for visualization are, for instance, the salinity level, circulation vectors, temperatures, wind velocity, or larval fish distributions.
The particularity of OceanDiver is to provide synchronous collaboration between expert. Each participant is represented by an avatar consisting of a head, a body, and a single hand. A pointer is attached to the head to facilitate communication by pointing interesting part of the visualization. Moreover, each participant may filter data either locally, to conduct their own investigation without disturbing other participants of the session, or globally so dialog can be initiated once an interesting feature has been discovered.
