The Cubic Mouse is an interaction tool specifically designed for the immersive analysis of seismic slice, i.e. geo-scientific data from the oil and gas domain. The representation is composed of the seismic slice and well logs collected through bore hole extraction. Color is used to encode two attributes directly on the main cylinder of the well log representation, while an additional attribute is encoded on the color of the panel next to it.
The advantage of the cubic mouse is to have a direct link between the controller and the representation. Any rotation of the cubic mouse will result in the same rotation of the visualization, a button can be pressed to decouple this interaction. Moreover, each cutting plane is controlled by transparent rod that slide inside the cubic mouse, moving them results in moving the cutting plane position.
